Wanita Margheim Obituary

Wanita Margheim, 84, of Pisgah, Iowa, formerly of LaSalle, Colorado passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Dunlap Specialty Care, Dunlap, Iowa.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 22, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley, Colorado with Alan Volz, officiating. Following the service, there will be a picnic at LaSalle City Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Wanita was born October 4, 1940 in Fort Lupton, Colorado, the daughter of Reinhold and Kathryn (Schmidt) Kanzler. She graduated from Platteville High School in Colorado. The day after graduation she started working at Mt. Bell, a phone company, for several years.

Wanita and Edward Margheim were united into marriage October 28, 1960 in Greeley, Colorado. To this union two children were born, Sheryl and Doug. Edward passed away November 5, 1996 in Loveland, Colorado.

Wanita dedicated her early years to staying home and raising her children. Once they were older, she returned to the workforce, taking a position at Mt. Bell. She later worked as a cook in the cafeterias at the Villa and Golden Corral, where she remained until her retirement.

Wanita had a passion for creativity and enjoyed crocheting, crafts, and Trichem painting. Some of her favorite shows included Herbie the Love Bug, Ma & Pa Kettle, The Young and the Restless, and bull riding. She loved hummingbirds, butterflies, and spending time in the kitchen baking, making cookies, and decorating cakes. Wanita also enjoyed camping and having picnics with her children. For several years, she was an active member of the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include her children, Sheryl (Eric) Springer of Pisgah, Iowa and Doug (Laura) Margheim of Cheyenne, Wyoming; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Travis) Archer, Ryan Margheim, Brittnie (Bruce) Karn, and Jack Margheim; four great-grandchildren, Vincent Archer, Bryce Karn, Joshua Karn, and Julie Margheim; sister-in-law, Shirley Kanzler of Fort Lupton, Colorado; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reinhold and Kathryn (Schmidt) Kanzler; parents-in-law, George Sr. and Marie (Schmidt) Margheim; one great-grandchild, Allen Karn; brother, Donald Kanzler; and sister, Helen (Vernon) Volz.
