Verona "Ronnie" Allen Obituary

Verona “Ronnie” Allen, 77, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022 at UnityPoint Health - St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 9, 2022 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Clif Cockburn and Pastor Jed Shermer, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Ronnie’s obituary. Burial will be held at a later date in the Center Cemetery, Castana, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Verona Mary “Ronnie” was born September 10, 1944 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, the daughter of Theodore “Ted” Ruben and Verona Margaret (Hauser) Heath. Ronnie was the oldest of four girls. They moved to Iowa, living mostly in Sioux City area. She attended Westwood High School in Sloan.

Ronnie and Gordon Allen, Sr. were married December 17, 1971 in Onawa, Iowa. They had four children, Gary “Teddy”, Tammy and Twila (twins), the twins only lived two days, and Gordon Jr. Gordon Jr. is the only living child as Gary was killed in an auto accident in 1991.

Ronnie loved working. She worked for many years at the Dunlap Sale Barn loading and unloading cattle. She enjoyed working for the Schabens. Ronnie also worked for Boyer Valley Redi-Mix, as a bookkeeper. Harold Melby and Ronnie became lifelong friends to this day.

Survivors include her husband, Gordon Allen, Sr. of Onawa, Iowa; her son, Gordon Jr. (Sherrea) Allen of Onawa, Iowa; grandchildren, Josh Allen, Trynadi Loonsfoot; Cassidy Loonsfoot; Kamryn Romer, and Samantha Bonham; sister, Marie Peterson of Sioux City, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Verona (Hauser) Heath; set of twins, Tammy and Twila Allen; son, Gary “Ted” Allen; brother-in-law, Tom Peterson; and two sisters, Erma Goolsby, and Ada (Ron) Barton.
