Teresa Anne (Rice) Stotts, 62, of rural Moorhead, Iowa, formerly of Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025 at her mom’s residence.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 22, 2025 at the Moorhead Christian Church, Moorhead, Iowa with Pastor Chuck Snow, officiating. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Teresa’s obituary. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Teresa Anne Rice was born on October 10, 1963 in Fontana, California, the daughter of Jerry and Barbara (Sterner) Rice. She grew up in California and attended special education schools, later continuing her education at the Teenager Residential Program in Sylmar, California. Teresa also took a few college classes. Because her father worked as a forest ranger, the family moved frequently throughout California. Teresa always said she climbed California’s tallest mountain with her family’s help, as they carried her piggyback. In 1989, the family relocated from California to Nebraska, and in 2005 moved to rural Moorhead, Iowa.
Teresa met Roy Stotts at Easter Seals Camp, and they were married July 11, 2016, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. One of her fondest memories with Roy was attending Camp High Hopes in Sioux City, Iowa, which they lovingly referred to as their vacation spot. Roy passed away May 13, 2023.
Teresa loved reading, collecting dolls, and caring for animals of all kinds. She especially cherished her ferrets and guinea pigs. Known for her gentle sense of humor, Teresa often joked that her spirit animal was a sloth, with whom she felt she shared many similarities.
Survivors include her mother, Barbara "Barb" Rice of rural Moorhead, Iowa; her brothers, Fred (Debra) Rice of Taft, California, Robert Rice of Onawa, Iowa, and Scott (Lara) Rice of Taft, California; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Rice; beloved husband, Roy Stotts; infant sister; JeriDee Rice; and many other relatives.
