Shirley J. Beedle, 83, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at The Hospice House- The Josie Harper Residence, Omaha, Nebraska.
A memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Clif Cockburn, Jack Gibler, and Lonnie Campbell, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Shirley’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Shirley Jean was born August 1, 1941 in Salix, Iowa the daughter of Williiam “Bill” and Thelma (Adams) Irish. Shirley grew up around Smithland and Sloan. She attended school in Sloan and obtained her GED. She worked for Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton and helped Russ and Loretta McCall at the auctions for many years.
Shirley Irish and Gary Beedle were united into marriage March 26, 1958 in Elk Point, South Dakota. To this union three children were born, Ronda, Mark, and Rachelle.
Shirley enjoyed her flower garden, antiques, and sewing. She enjoyed her family very much especially watching her grandchildren’s sports activities.
Shirley was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa.
Survivors include three children, Ronda (Jim) Fischer of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mark (Pat) Beedle of Onawa, Iowa, and Rachelle (Dan) Sortino of Omaha, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Jenny (Jon) Scully, Brandon Danner, Miranda (Tony) Arnold, Nikki (Pete) Scriven, Chris Beedle, Tiffany (Jon Allen) Beedle, Joe Sortino, and Jack (Anna) Sortino; seventeen great-grandchildren, Sara, William, Isobella, Mya, Lily, Kiara, Patrick, Natalie, Andrew, Emily, Morgan, Aaron, Kate, Zach, Zoey, Domenic, and Louie; sister-in-law, Janet Beedle of Tekamah, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Dale Bean of Onawa, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary N. Beedle; parents, Bill and Thelma (Adams) Irish; infant sister, Joan Irish; sisters, Joy Dell Chewning and Carol Bean; parents-in-law, Jack and Annabelle (Lamb) Beedle; sister-in-law, Janet Heck; two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Beedle and Ronnie Heck.
