Shirley Ann Harl, 84, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.
A memorial service will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Catie Newman, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Shirley’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Little Sioux Cemetery, Little Sioux, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Shirley Ann was born January 23, 1938 in Onawa, Iowa the daughter of Walter and Helen (Dorothy) Richardson. She grew up in Onawa and graduated from High School. Shirley continued her education as a nurse’s aide and worked in Elmwood and the Onawa Hospital for many years.
Shirley and William “Bill” Harl were united in marriage on March 16, 1964 at Fort Collins, Colorado.
Shirley enjoyed bird watching, cooking, holidays, and camping. She loved spending time with her family especially playing cards with her grandsons. Shirley enjoyed being on the river and the outdoors.
Survivors include her daughter, Deanna “Dawn” (Dan Mortenson) Harl of Onawa, Iowa; grandchildren, Tanner Daniel Harl of Onawa, Iowa, and Tucker William Harl of Onawa, Iowa; two brothers, Charles “Chuck (Marilyn) Richardson of Onawa, Iowa, and Larry (Jenette) Richardson of Onawa, Iowa; one sister, Virginia (Don) Strauch of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Helen Richardson; step-father, George Bowman; husband, William “Bill” Harl; four brothers, Donald (Judy) Richardson, Keith Richardson; Guy (Shirley) Richardson, and Kenneth “Red” (Shirley) Richardson; and one infant sister.
