Sandra "JoAnn" Mortenson

Sandra “JoAnn” Mortenson, 73, of Onawa, Iowa passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 15, 2024 at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa. 

Per JoAnn’s wishes cremation has been accorded and no services will be held at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Sandra JoAnn was born April 21, 1951 in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Mary (Howard) Brown. She grew up and attended school in Onawa. 

JoAnn Brown and Robert Mortenson were united into marriage February 7, 1977 in Onawa. JoAnn enjoyed raising her children as a stay-at-home mom. Robert passed away September 15, 1995. 

She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, riding her bike, crosswords and Lifetime movies. 

Survivors include her children, Angela (Danny) Komarek of Onawa, Iowa, Renee Klein of Denison, Iowa, Billy Mortenson of Gassville, Arkansas, and Bobby (Trisha) Mortenson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mortenson; parents, Roy and Mary (Howard) Brown; sister, Betty Church; one granddaughter, Katie Mortenson; and one grandson; Andrew Mortenson.
