Ruth E. Corbin

Ruth E. Corbin, 97, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Smithland, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023, at Casa de Paz Health Care Center, Sioux City, Iowa, surrounded by family.

A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Little Sioux Township Cemetery, Smithland, Iowa with Pastor Michael Ring, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Ruth Elaine was born April 13, 1926, in Ida Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Milford, Sr. and Gladys (Miller) Denham. She attended country school near Ida Grove and graduated from Ida Grove High School. After graduation, Ruth worked at the Ida Grove Hospital for a short time.

Ruth and Charles Corbin, Jr. were united into marriage on November 16, 1946, in Sioux City, Iowa. After the couple were married, they moved to Smithland, Iowa. While living in Smithland, Ruth worked in Sioux City for Erwin Weller Fishing Tackle and Donnelly Marketing as a supervisor. Charles passed away June 29, 1999 in Smithland, Iowa. After Charles passed, Ruth moved to Sioux City in 2001.

She enjoyed crocheting, fixing her friend’s hair, and spending time with her family. Ruth was a Senior Companion for many years.

Ruth was a member of the Smithland United Methodist Church and served as Treasurer for many years. Later in life, Ruth was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Sioux City and served on the ladies aid.

Survivors include her son, Tim Corbin of Sioux City, Iowa; son-in-law, Lynn Smith of Omaha, Nebraska; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Corbin, Jr.; parents, Milford and Gladys (Miller) Denham; daughter, Linda Smith; granddaughter, Amy Smith; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Corbin; sister, Margaret (Alvin) Corbin; and two brothers, Robert Denham and Milford Denham, Jr.
