Roy “Lynn” Riley, 78, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.
A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel with Vicar Damon Hopkins, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Lynn’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Little Sioux Cemetery, Little Sioux, Iowa. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at the Goslar Chapel in Onawa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Roy Lynn Riley was born on September 22, 1947, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Harold and Kathleen (Cutler) Riley. He was raised in Little Sioux, Iowa, and graduated with the Class of 1965 from West Harrison High School.
He worked in sheet metal manufacturing as a machine operator for Wilson Trailer and Westendorf Manufacturing before joining Mike’s IGA in Onawa, where he spent more than 30 years serving as the dairy manager.
Lynn and Danelle Renee Hyatt were united into marriage May 31, 1975 in Onawa.
Lynn enjoyed gardening, traveling, visiting craft breweries, and painting miniatures. He also loved lawn work, spending time outdoors, and fishing. Above all, the most meaningful moments in his life were those spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Danelle Riley of Onawa, Iowa; children, Douglas Adam Riley of Jacksonville, Florida, Eric Edward (Karen) Riley of Dunlap, Iowa, Elias Alvin Riley of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Seth Harold (Megan) Riley of Bellevue, Nebraska; grandchildren, Spencer (Christine) Riley, Samson Riley, Logan Riley, Emily Bradish, Anna Bradish, Jasmine Riley, Vicar Damon (Fernando Vaca) Hopkins, Rhiannon (Alejandro) Perez-Stark, Ashton (Kaylynn Warren) Collins, Cierra Riley, Gage (fiancée Brenna Prater) Wente, Ana Rodgers, Willow Riley, Xander Riley, Madison (Tyler) Arrasmith, Ashton Riley, Balian Riley, and Kellan Riley; great-grandchildren, Ember Riley, Katerina Riley, Stephanie Smith, Olivia Bridges, Jace Riley, Aella Perez-Stark, Farron Perez-Stark, River Riley, and another one on the way; mother-in-law, Donna Rae Hyatt of Onawa, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Debra Bryan, Dee Ann (Wes) Hyatt, and Darla (Gordan) Hinkel; brother-in-law, Daniel (Marilyn) Hyatt; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Kathleen (Cutler) Riley; friend of the family, Delores Kay “Aunt Kay”; father-in-law, Daniel Hyatt; and brother-in-law, David Bryan.
Lynn gave the gift of life through the Iowa Donor Network.
