Roy Gene Wakehouse

Roy G. Wakehouse, 72, of Turin, Iowa passed away in Fort Collins, Colorado on January 11, 2023.  Roy passed peacefully at Pathways Hospice surrounded by his wife and daughters, after a struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. 

 A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Goslar Funeral Home Chapel in Onawa, Iowa, with Dr. Mike and Karen Currier, officiating.  A live stream of the service will be posted to the Goslar Funeral Home website with Roy’s obituary. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Roy was born on July 10, 1950, to Walter and Julia (Rasmussen) Wakehouse in Moorhead, IA.  Roy was a retired semi-driver and throughout his career had worked for Loomis & Sons Trucking, Western Iowa Co-Op, and Wynne Transport.  At home, during his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, landscaping duties, and anything that kept him busy on the farm.  He loved hanging out with his Scottish Terrier, BJ and visiting with the girls and their families via FaceTime and in-person visits.

Roy was predeceased by his parents, brother- Gary Wakehouse, and his sister- Sara Atwell. He is survived by his wife, Janet, daughters, Christina Timm and Cherlynn Ryk, sons-in-law Keith Timm and Franklin Ryk, and grandchildren, Kaiden Timm (13), Hinsley Ryk (6) and Emery Ryk (1), all of Colorado.  He is also survived by his sister Becky Vaughn, brother-in-law, Dave Vaughn, sister-in-law Becky Wakehouse, and several nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Roy’s name to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, UC Health Northern Colorado Foundation (UC Health Poudre Valley Medical Center), or Pathways Hospice (Fort Collins, CO).
