Rosemary Barber, 75, of Mapleton, Iowa passed away due to injuries sustained from a vehicle accident on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 2, 2026 at Holly Springs Bible Fellowship Church (2697 280th Street, Hornick, Iowa) with Pastor Jim Thomas, officiating. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Rosemary’s obituary. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service. Burial will follow the luncheon at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, January 1, 2026 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Rosemary was born March 16, 1950 in Iowa City, Iowa. Her parents were Lester and Esther (Buckner) Bartels. She grew up in Mapleton and graduated from Maple Valley High School with the class of 1968.
Rosemary married Gene Barber on November 19, 1969 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union, two children were born Jeff and Catherine.
Rosemary worked as a fast typist for several years and also spent a few years waitressing in Odebolt. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting and knitting, collecting salt and pepper shakers, and gathering a variety of treasured items over the years.
She attended Holly Springs Bible Fellowship Church with Gene.
Survivors include her son, Jeff (Lana Peterson) Barber of Danbury, Iowa; grandchildren, Dylan Barber, Devin Howard, Mia Cota, Britton Robertson, Brooklyn Voss, Bryan Voss, and Christina Wolfe; great-grandchildren, Daxtyn Howard, Desmond Howard, and Emery Webster; sister, Ginny Norris of Arizona; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Barber; and daughter, Cathy Belfrage.
