Rose Marie Perry

Rose Marie Perry, 97, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa surrounded by her family.

A graveside memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Kennebec Cemetery, rural Castana, Iowa with Jack Gibler, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Rose Marie was born September 12, 1926, in rural Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Pete and Cora (Trimble) Wright. Rose attended country schools near Onawa. She worked at several cafés in the area. She also worked at Elmwood Care Centre for many years as a dietitian.

Rose Marie Wright and John Oliver Perry were united into marriage August 9, 1945, in Onawa. John passed away January 2, 2002 in Onawa.

Rose enjoyed crocheting, reading, word search puzzles, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She loved bowling and was on the Iowa Women’s Bowling League and received several trophies. Rose was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Whiting, Iowa. She was also a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Shelly (Tim) Merritt of Sioux City, Iowa, and Brent Allen of Onawa, Iowa; one sister, Margaret A. Hall of Onawa, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Cora (Trimble) Wright; five brothers, James A. Wright, Donald E. Wright, Chester E. Wright, Albert E. Wright, and Pete E. Wright; son, John E. Perry; daughter, Nancy M. Allen; brother-in-law, Roger Hall; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Margaret Wright, Bernice Wright, and Judy Heck.
