Ronald "Ron" Simmons Obituary

Ronald Martin Simmons, 65, of Whiting, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 5, 2023, at his residence.

A celebration of life service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Ron’s obituary. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Casual attire is requested for those attending. A gathering will follow at Ten34 Brickhouse, Onawa, Iowa, after the celebration of life service. Ron gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation with the Iowa Donor Network. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Ronald “Ron” Martin Simmons was born December 27, 1957, in Los Angeles, California, the son of William and Eileen (Orr) Simmons. Ron grew up in Onawa, Iowa, and attended school in Onawa. He later received his G.E.D. Ron attended Western Iowa Tech and received his certification for meat cutting.

Ron was a meat cutter for thirty-three years for Fiesta Foods in Onawa. He was a long-time bartender at O’Neill’s Tavern, Onawa, Iowa.

He enjoyed reading military history books and taking drives. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and New York Yankees. Ron loved music and enjoyed watching music documentaries.

Survivors include his best friend and life partner, Karen Krumwiede of Whiting, Iowa; children, Kate (Tim Pagett) Simmons of Logan, Iowa, Mary Simmons of Logan, Iowa, Eric (Lisa Myers) Samson of Sioux City, Iowa, and Brooks (Samantha) Krumwiede of Cheyenne, Wyoming; grandchildren, Aiden Young of Logan, Iowa, Kacie (Hunter) Lampshire of Commerce City, Colorado, Ashley Myers of Phoenix, Arizona, Wesley Myers of Sioux City, Iowa, Michaela and Max Krumwiede of Cheyenne, Wyoming; former spouse, Pamela Glassmeyer of Logan, Iowa; sister, Susan (Robert) De Roy of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, John (Vanessa Hamilton) Simmons of Onawa, Iowa; nephews, William Simmons of Onawa, Iowa, Gabe Simmons of Onawa, Iowa, and Sean Wingfield of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces, Brandi Velasco of Onawa, Iowa, Stacie Simmons of Sioux City, Iowa, and Erin Morris of Omaha, Nebraska; and many cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eileen (Orr) Simmons; brothers, Tim Simmons, and Jim Simmons; and granddaughter, Josie Samson.
