Ronald “Jimmie” Yockey, 84, of Smithland, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Maple Heights Nursing Home, Mapleton, Iowa surrounded by his family.
Per Jimmie’s wishes, cremation has been completed, and private services have already taken place. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Ronald “Jimmie” Marvin Yockey was born on September 11, 1941 to Cecil and Maureta (Bueoy) Yockey in Hornick, Iowa, and raised in the Hornick, Smithland and Rodney area.
He worked many jobs starting at a young age, including Westendorf Mfg. Co., Nutra-Flo, and in business with his brother Roger, Yockey Brothers Backhoe and Trenching.
Jimmie was known around the area for his 1960 Corvette. He had a unique way with animals, especially horses.
He married Susan Martin, and was blessed with sons, Spencer and Jason.
In 1986, he married Jan Koeppen Johnson, making their home on an acreage outside of Rodney with their kids Spencer, Jason, Jennifer, and Seth.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Yockey; children, Spencer (Trisha) Yockey, Jason (Shauna) Yockey, Jennifer (Kevin) Goslar and Seth (Valerie Connell) Johnson; eight grandchildren, Taylor, Brittney, Lexi, Anthony, Samantha, Bryce, Zachery, and Jordan; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Roger (Sharon) Yockey; aunt, Barbara (Bueoy) Bumsted; good friend, Bernie Woodward; other siblings, Debbie, Randy, Kevin, Paula, Celia, and Vickie; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maureta Yockey; his father, Cecil (Pauline) Yockey; and his siblings, Dan, Rick, Karen, and Caroline.
