Robert "Bob" Seitzinger, Sr.

Robert “Bob” L. Seitzinger, Sr., 89, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Moville, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023, at home surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the Moville United Methodist Church, Moville, Iowa with Reverend Dr. Eric Sayonkon, officiating. Masonic service will follow at the church with Steve Jewett, Orator. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Bob’s obituary. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Smithland American Legion Leslie F. Seaton Post #0666. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Robert “Bob” Lewis was born December 5, 1934, in Hornick, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Celia (Hansen) Seitzinger. He graduated from Hornick High School. After high school Bob attended college in Wayne, Nebraska. Bob served in the United States Army from 1953-1957.

Bob and Virginia were united into marriage on January 24, 1960, in Hornick, Iowa. To this union they had four children, Bob Jr., Doug, Lori, and Vicki.

Bob worked as a postmaster in Smithland, Iowa, for many years. He enjoyed sports, playing cards, and traveling. Bob was a member of the Westwood School Board, Farm Bureau Board, Masonic Lodge, and Moville United Methodist Church Board. Some of Bob’s interests were farming, soil conservation, and the Loess Hills Association. Bob was a member of the Smithland American Legion Leslie F. Seaton Post #666.

 Survivors include his children, Robert Jr. (Barb) Seitzinger of Sioux City, Iowa, Doug Seitzinger of Kansas City, Missouri, Lori (Brad) Hardin of Bertram, Texas, and Vicki (Paul Dyson) Seitzinger of Burleson, Texas; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one brother, Lyle (Sherma) Seitzinger; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; parents, Ralph and Celia (Hansen) Seitzinger; granddaughter, Brooke; and two sisters, Maxine (Royce) Gramm and Lucille (Jerry) Kersey.
