Robert Shol

Robert Shol, of Moorhead, Iowa, passed away July 11, 2026, after a lifetime devoted to craftsmanship, service, and his community.

Per Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held. Burial will occur in the Spring Valley Cemetery, rural Moorhead, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Robert was born in 1937 to Elmer and Leone (Stolley) Shol. Robert graduated from Moorhead High School before serving his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962. He proudly served as a medic and qualified as an expert with the M-1 rifle. During his military service, his artistic talents were recognized through the Army's Arts and Crafts program.

Following his service, Robert returned to Moorhead and built a respected career in antique furniture restoration, operating his restoration business for nearly 50 years. Known for his exceptional craftsmanship, he restored countless antiques, historic stained-glass windows, and other treasured pieces throughout the region.

Robert was also a dedicated community member, serving on the Moorhead Fire Department and City Council. He took great pride in preserving Moorhead's history and contributing to projects that benefited the town he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Leone (Stolley) Shol; and his siblings, Bernadine Hansen, Ronald Shol, Howard Shol, and Darlene Bowen.

Those who entrusted him with their treasured antiques knew him as an exceptional craftsman whose attention to detail and dedication to quality were second to none. His legacy will endure in the many pieces he lovingly restored and the history he helped preserve.
