Richard Dean Strong

Richard Dean Strong, 79, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.

There will be no services at this time.  Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Richard Dean was born on August 4, 1943, the son of William and Ethel (Karr) Strong in Onawa, Iowa.

He graduated from Onawa high school. Continued school at WIT Technical school. Richard entered the U.S. Army in July 30, 1964 and was honorably discharged November 17, 1964.

He worked at the Westendorf in Onawa, Iowa, also worked at the surrounding area casinos, and later was a caregiver for his sister Beverly Murphy.

Richard enjoyed putting artificial flower arrangements together. He liked to play bingo. Most of all he enjoyed to spend time with his family.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa.

Survivors include his sister, Shirley Matkosky of Onawa, Iowa; brother, Raymond Strong of Panama City, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel Strong; sisters, Beverly Murphy, Wilma Bothwell, Charlotte Strong in infancy, and Margaret Watts.
