Randy Lee Mings

Randy Lee Mings, 68, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023, at his residence.

A memorial graveside service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 20, 2023 at the Onawa Cemetery, in Onawa, Iowa with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating, with Military Honors provided by the United States Army and David McNeill American Legion Post #129, Onawa, Iowa. A livestream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Randy’s obituary. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Randy Lee was born June 27, 1955, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of James Eugene and Barbara DeLoris (Jones) Mings. He grew up in Onawa, Iowa and attended school at West Monona. Randy served in the United States Army June 30, 1972 and until he was honorably discharged on December 7, 1973.

Randy was a heavy equipment operator for various places for many years.

Randy enjoyed rebuilding cars and trucks. He was into politics. Randy enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels at his home.

He was a union member while working with heavy equipment.

Survivors include his daughter, Melissa Lee (Juan) Leon of Spring Creek, Nevada; grandchildren, MariLee Leon and Johonna Leon; uncle, Kenny (Irene) Mings of Onawa, Iowa; and numerous cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Barbara (Jones) Mings; brother, Robert “Bob” Mings; paternal and maternal grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
