Randal "Joe" Laughlin

Randal “Joe” Laughlin, 71, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Friday, February 6, 2026 at Accura Healthcare of Onawa.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Randal Joe was born May 29, 1954 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of Dallas and Mary “Rosalie” (Hines) Laughlin. He grew up in Malvern, Iowa, where he enjoyed farming alongside his father. The family later moved to Whiting, and Joe graduated from Whiting High School with the Class of 1973.

Joe worked at the Whiting grain elevator for many years and was also employed at the concrete plant in Onawa, where he drove a cement truck. A skilled mechanic, he enjoyed working on cars in his spare time. Joe dearly loved his dog, Moses.

Joe was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Onawa Congregation, Onawa, Iowa.

Survivors include his siblings, Sherry Smith, David “Dave” Laughlin, Billy “Bill” (Tammy) Laughlin, James “Dan” Laughlin, and Lea Ann (Michael) Wright; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Mary “Rosalie” (Hines) Laughlin; two sisters, Carol Sage, and Lucy Monahan; and brother-in-law, Melvin Smith.
