Phyllis June Reynolds, 93, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.
A funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, July 7, 2025 at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Clif Cockburn, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral website with Phyllis’ obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday, July 7, 2025 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Phyllis was born June 25, 1932 in rural Woodbine, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Elsie (Ehlert) Leonard. She joined an older brother Howard, Jr. The family moved to Onawa in 1940.
She graduated from Onawa High School with the class of 1949.
Phyllis and Bill Reynolds were married on October 8, 1950, at First Christian Church in Onawa and moved to the family farm. She enjoyed being a farm wife and raising her children, Jane, Ned and Ann.
She served Onawa First Christian Church diligently and with loyalty and love throughout her entire life. She was the Sunday School Superintendent, choir director, and past treasurer for Nebowa Christian Camp. She served wherever needed for over 70 years.
Phyllis also was involved in several bridge clubs, the clerk for Ashton Township for over 40 years, a Burgess Hospital Volunteer and a member of Onawa Woman’s Club.
Time with her family, reading and traveling were favorite past times.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane (Gregory) Heisterkamp of Sloan, Iowa, and Ann (Vince) Phillips of Onawa, Iowa; and daughter-in-law, Melinda (Scott Lynn) Reynolds of Whiting, Iowa; grandchildren, Trisha (Spencer) Heisterkamp Yockey, Emily (Stephen) Heisterkamp Knittel, Max (Ashley) Heisterkamp, Sarah Reynolds Kirchoff, Adam (Kelcey) Reynolds, Neal (Joelle) Reynolds, Michael (Andrea) Phillips, Bryan (Brittany) Phillips, and Julie (Derek) Phillips Roberg; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Reynolds; parents, Howard and Elsie (Ehlert) Leonard; parents-in-law, Edward and Helen (Neal) Reynolds; son, Ned Reynolds; brother, Howard Leonard, Jr.; and friend, Fred Reekers.
Memorials will be directed to Onawa First Christian Church and Nebowa Christian Camp, Onawa.
