Pastor Brian Kinney, 65, of Onawa, Iowa, entered into the joy of the Lord on Thursday, May 29, 2025, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family.
A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Onawa United Pentecostal Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Mut Toang and Pastor Mario Flores, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on Goslar Funeral Home website with Brian’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. A visitation will be 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Monday, June 2, 2025, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Brian Kenneth was born on January 18, 1960, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Farnam and Dorothy (Wiggs) Kinney. He attended West Monona High School and graduated with the class of 1978. He enjoyed pheasant hunting with his father, while growing up. Brian continued his education at Bellevue College and graduated in 1983 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
Brian and Pamela “Pam” Barnes were united in marriage on June 20, 1980, in Indianapolis, Indiana. To this union they were blessed with three daughters: Michelle, Rachel, and Christie.
Brian was a Parts Manager known as “The Legend” at Vetter Equipment in Onawa, Iowa, for thirty-four years.
Brian was a licensed minister with the United Pentecostal Church International. He served the community of Onawa as a Pastor at the Onawa United Pentecostal Church for over thirty-two years.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife Pam, especially going to national parks. Brian was a jack of all trades and was Mr. Fix-it for many people. Brian’s family was very important to him, especially his grandchildren, he loved them all.
Survivors include his loving wife, Pam Kinney of Onawa, Iowa; children, Michelle (Jeremy) Ramos of Tabor, Iowa, Rachel (Aron) Reyes of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Christie Carron of Onawa, Iowa; grandchildren, Brooklyn Ramos, Landon Ramos, and Abigail Ramos; brothers, Larry (Julie Currin) Kinney of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Paul (Brenda) Kinney of Canton, Missouri; sisters, Marian (Bob) Robinson of Lyons, Nebraska, Virginia Kloster of Keokuk, Iowa, and Patricia (Kelly) Kermoade of Canton, Missouri; father-in-law, LeRoy Barnes of Onawa, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Farnam and Dorothy (Wiggs) Kinney; mother-in-law, Joan Barnes; brother-in-law, Alex Kloster; niece, Jami Tipton; and nephew, Chris Kinney.
