Norma Kay Aitken, 87, of Ticonic, Iowa passed away Monday, December 29, 2025 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 1, 2026 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Norma’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Grant Township Cemetery, rural Ticonic, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service January 1, 2026 at the Goslar Chapel in Onawa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Norma Kay was born January 17, 1938 in Ticonic, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn and Lavinia (Woodward) Miller. She grew up in Ticonic and graduated from Castana High School with the class of 1956. Norma furthered her education at Simpson College for two years and then went on to Morningside College.
Norma Miller and Louis Aitken were united into marriage April 25, 1981 in Ticonic, Iowa. Louis passed away September 22, 2014.
Norma spent many years working as a librarian at Morningside College before moving closer to her parents to help on the family farm near Ticonic.
Norma enjoyed music, especially playing the piano, and for many years she served as the organist at the Ticonic Methodist Church. She also loved raising a garden and spent many seasons canning the vegetables she grew. Norma remained a faithful member of the Ticonic Methodist Church until it closed.
Survivors include nephews, Glendon “Glen” (Stephanie) McDonald of Vermillion, South Dakota, Jason (Vicki) McDonald of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Marlon (Sheryl) McDonald of Tremont, Illinois; great-nieces and nephews, Megan (Jake) Dreiling, Erin (Ryan) Ringsred, Zachary McDonald, Connor (Alison) McDonald, Tyler (Jenna) McDonald, Matthew McDonald, Allyson McDonald, and Mason McDonald; several great-great-nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Lavinia (Woodward) Miller; husband, Louis Aitken; sister and "Best Friend", Jana McDonald; and brother-in-law, James McDonald.
