Mitchell "Mitch" Dean Yanak

Mitchell “Mitch” Dean Yanak, 62, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.

A funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Mike Kennedy, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home Website with Mitch’s obituary. Wear your favorite sports team apparel or Harley Davidson apparel. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. A visitation will be 5:00- 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the Chapel, with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Mitchell Dean was born April 3, 1962, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Fred and Pauline (Green) Yanak. He grew up in Onawa and attended West Monona High School and graduated with the class of 1980.

Mitch and Theresa Theeler were united in marriage on July 16, 1988 in Onawa, Iowa. He enjoyed loving the love of his life, Tee.

He worked for New Coop for over forty years, doing various jobs from custom chemical application to outside operations.

Mitch loved spending time with his family, especially his grandbabies. He was always proud of his two sons, Tony and Andrew.  Mitch enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, dune buggies, motorcycles, gardening, and was an avid Packers fan. In his free time, he enjoyed an ice-cold beer, and watching Sci-Fi Movies. Mitch liked listening to the band Rush.

He was a member of the original “Garage Maholics”.  He was a part of the Midnight Mudslingers – Band of Friends, and they went riding at night at timber ridge.

Survivors include his loving wife, Theresa Yanak of Onawa, Iowa; children, Tony (Amanda) Yanak  and Mitch’s grandchildren, Trey, Sawyer, and Finley Yanak, of Onawa, Iowa, Andrew (Tressa) Yanak  of Onawa, Iowa, and Tina (Randy) Rhomberg and their children, Ariel, Madison, and Raina Rhomberg, of Dubuque, Iowa; brothers, David (Ruby) Yanak, and Jeff (Denise) Yanak; sister-in-law, Tracy (Dan) Fox; nephews, Ruben (Sandy) Yanak and their children, Riley and Brennan Yanak, Jeffery Yanak and his children, Zoey, Maggie, and Andy Yanak, and Jason Yanak and his children, Haylee and Bentley Yanak; niece, Kyli (Josh) Swanson and their child, Ali Theeler; and many other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pauline (Green) Yanak; mother-in-law, Ida Theeler; and his faithful companion, Max.
