Michael “Mike” Nagel, 60, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s – Downtown, Sioux City, Iowa.
A visitation with viewing will be held 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. on Monday, May 11, 2026 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, May 11, 2026 at the Goslar Chapel with Vicar Russell Stanislav, officiating. Family requests those attending the visitation and service to please wear casual clothing. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Mike’s obituary. A private family burial will be held in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Michael Everett was born October 6, 1965, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Everett and Dorothy (Dahl) Nagel. He grew up and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Mike graduated from West Monona High School with the class of 1984. Mike went on to earn a degree in Agribusiness from Western Iowa Tech Community College. He later worked for many years in the sales department at Westendorf Manufacturing Company and Vetter Equipment, both located in Onawa.
Mike Nagel and Paula Kelley were united into marriage March 16, 1991 in Onawa. To this union two children were born, David and Everett “EJ”.
Some of Mike’s favorite hobbies included woodworking, golfing, reading, baling hay, camping, and his newest hobby, baking. He enjoyed making molasses cookies. He was an avid fan of the Oakland Raiders, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Oakland A’s.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Nagel of Onawa, Iowa; his children, David (Courtney) Nagel of Onawa, Iowa, and Everett “EJ” (Erica) Nagel of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two grandchildren, Norah and Jackson Nagel; two sisters, Carol Turgeon of Gillette, Wyoming and Nancy Gladden of Sioux City, Iowa; one nephew, Lee Turgeon of Gillette, Wyoming; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Dorothy (Dahl) Nagel; paternal and maternal grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
