Max R. Bonine

Max R. Bonine, 76, of Onawa, Iowa passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Onawa Country Club, Onawa, Iowa starting at 5:00 P.M. with Lay Servant Anthony Bainbridge, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Max’s obituary. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa. 

Max Ratliff was born December 9, 1946, in Parsons, Kansas, the son of Ratliff “Bud” and Joyce (Wintjen) Bonine. He attended Onawa High School. Max worked at Reliable Automotive as a salesman in Sioux City, Iowa for many years. He also was a mechanic in his shop for many years and enjoyed helping people.

Max and Evelyn “Evie” Clausen were united into marriage May 4, 1984, in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.

Max enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved working on old cars, and he could always be found in his shop tinkering with something. Max loved everything about racing.

Survivors include his mom, Joyce Bonine Beedle; wife, Evie Bonine of Onawa, Iowa; five children, Stephanie (Kelly) Agee, Matthew Bonine, Tevie Lester, Hydie Poole, and Angie Lester; ten grandchildren, Sammy (Eli), Brandy (Blake), Matthew, Tryce, Dylan, Berklie, Sadie, Cortnie (Anthony), Kloie, and Jersie; ten great-grandchildren, Teagen, Maverick, Cillian, Lane, Kadin, Toby, Serena, Nathan, Ryker, and Emberlie; brother, Doug (Vicki) Bonine; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bud Bonine.
