Mary "Irene" Hanson

Mary “Irene” Hanson, 91, of Turin, Iowa passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022 at her residence.

A memorial service will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Catie Newman, officiating. A live stream will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Irene’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Belvidere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Mary Irene was born February 24, 1931 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Guy and Grace Baity. She grew up and attended school in Sioux City, Iowa.

Irene and Albert Leonard Hanson were married in 1950. To this union three children were born, Ron, Leonard and Vicky. Albert passed away in 2005.

Irene was a housewife and enjoyed raising her children. She loved her animals and had a commercial kennel license raising dogs, including Pomeranians and Pekingese. Irene owned and operated a ceramic shop and taught many lessons over the years.

Irene was a member of the Turin United Methodist Church, Turin, Iowa.

Survivors include her children, Ron Hanson of Turin, Iowa, and Leonard Hanson of Decatur, Nebraska; grandchildren, Robin Dunlop, Rodi Hanson, and Chris Hanson; brother, Stanley Mayer; and several other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Guy Baity; her daughter, Vicky Ann Hanson; and her granddaughter, Jeanne Lynn Negless.
