Martha Nanne was born March 6, 1933 in Thornton, Texas, the daughter of Henry G. “Dock” and Janie “Wanda” (Nettles) Banks. She was the youngest of three children born to Dock and Wanda and was known by family and friends as Nanne.

Nanne graduated from Thornton High School in Thornton, Texas with the class of 1950. She continued her education and received her teaching degree from North Texas University.

Nanne enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. She would order the puzzle books by the boxful until failing eyesight kept her from doing them. She loved watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and reading the newspaper. Nanne loved to garden until she was no longer able to, and Doug took it over so they could both enjoy its bounties.

She was a longtime member of the Salix Neighborhood Circle.
