Marion Louise LaBrune

Marion Louise LaBrune, 95, of Whiting, Iowa, formerly of Hornick, Iowa passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.

A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 16, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church, Climbing Hill, Iowa with Pastor David Schoop, officiating. In remembrance of Marion please wear something red, if possible, to the service. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Marion’s obituary.  Burial will follow in the Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Springs, Iowa. A visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Marion Louise was born December 8, 1926 in Alcester, South Dakota, the daughter of Ole and Stella (Michaelson) Buum. She graduated from Alcester High School in 1944.

Marion and Lawrence Paul LaBrune were united into marriage September 1, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa. To this union four children were born; Larry, Kathleen, Susan, and Michael. Marion was proud to stay at home and raise her children. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Marion had a clever sense of humor and enjoyed life.

She enjoyed shopping, camping, visiting with friends and relatives, reading, and playing cards. Marion loved traveling on vacation and her favorite spot was the Black Hills in South Dakota.

Marion was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Library Club, and the Depot Museum in Hornick, Iowa. She was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Climbing Hill, Iowa.

Survivors include her children, Larry LaBrune of Smithland, Iowa, Kathleen “Kathy” (Robert) Chebuhar of Sun Lakes, Arizona, Susan “Sandy” (Byron) Sexton of Hornick, Iowa, and Michael “Mike” (Kathy) LaBrune of Sloan, Iowa; six grandchildren, Anthony (Dina) LaBrune, Barrett Sexton, Stephanie Sexton, Dillon LaBrune, Devin LaBrune, and Amy (Erik) Ferris; two, great-grandchildren, Zachery Miller and Jonathon Miller; sister, Myrna Beuzekom of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; and many other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence LaBrune, who passed away May 13, 1994; parents, Ole and Stella (Michaelson) Buum; four brothers, Merle, Milo, Milton, and Marvin; granddaughter, Jennifer LaBrune; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie LaBrune.
