Marilyn Jane Cue was born on the farm home south of Dunlap, Iowa, to Ralph J. and Florence (McDole) Cue on October 3, 1923.  She attended rural elementary schools in the Dunlap area and graduated from Dunlap High School. She graduated from Woodbine Normal School in 1940.  Later, Marilyn taught in rural schools in Harrison and Monona counties for eleven years.

On March 24, 1945, she and Wyland Knutson were united in marriage and to this union three children were born: Steven, Shelley, and Terry.

She joined the Soldier Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. In 1964, she became elementary librarian for two years and then the elementary remedial reading teacher in the East Monona Schools for 6 years--retiring in 1972. She then became active in church work, participating in Ladies Aid and Circle--helping make quilts and kits for Lutheran World Relief.

Marilyn dearly loved her family.  She also loved playing cards with her friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children,  Steven (Pam) Knutson of Boone, Iowa and Shelley Hester of Black Canyon City, Arizona; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chad Blundell of Marshall, Illinois, Caydance Blundell of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Patrick (Nadine) Hester, Morgan and Easton of Maricopa, Arizona; Heidi (Ruben) Venegas, Zackary and Zaiden, Odessa, Texas; Mellissa (Kurt) Kettelson, Nathanael and Wyatt, of Petersburg, Nebraska; Allyson (Stacy) Robertson of Hudson, Florida; and Matthew Knutson, Kylie and Kamdyn, of Boone, Iowa; four step great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Jordan Esquivel, Phoenix, Arizona, Tony (Lucero) Alavarado, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, Michaela and Jordan Robertson, Boone, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, card playing friends, and church family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wyland Knutson; her son, Terry Knutson; her parents, Ralph and Florence (McDole) Cue; two brothers and their wives; and a sister in infancy.
