Loren G. Hinkel, 81, of Pisgah, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at CHI Health Immanuel Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska.
A private family burial will be held at a later date in the Little Sioux Cemetery, Little Sioux, Iowa with Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Loren Gale Hinkel was born on October 30, 1944, in Moorhead, Iowa, to Herman and Stella (Androy) Hinkel. He grew up on a farm near Little Sioux, Blencoe, and Onawa. Loren graduated from West Monona High School in 1963 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force from February 20, 1964, until his honorable discharge on February 19, 1968.
Following his service, Loren worked for many years at the DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge near Blair, Nebraska. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting, hobbies that he cherished throughout his life.
Survivors include his brother, Thomas (Laura) Hinkel of Des Moines, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Stella (Androy) Hinkel; and brother, Russell (Betty) Hinkel.
