Lois Collison Obituary

Lois Mae Collison, 91, of Blencoe, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Elmwood Care Centre, Onawa, Iowa, after a brief illness.

A funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the Blencoe United Church of Christ, Blencoe, Iowa, with Pastor Linda Boggs, officiating. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Lois’ obituary. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments in Onawa, Iowa.

Lois Mae was born north of Magnolia, Iowa, July 21, 1932, the daughter of Philip H. and Opal Lorraine (Kincheloe) Benson. She graduated from high school in Magnolia, Iowa, with the class of 1950.

On December 10, 1950, she married Robert Dale Collison of Blencoe, Iowa. Together they farmed in Monona County until he retired in 1992. Lois worked over forty-five years in the Monona County Treasurers Department, many as a deputy treasurer.

Lois was a member of the Blencoe United Church of Christ. She served on the Blencoe Centennial planning committee held in 1971. She had a caring spirit, generous to help her family and friends. Her friendly nature and sense of humor will be missed.

Survivors include her children, Robert (Beverly) Collison of Blencoe, Iowa, and Shirley (Tony) Phillips of Sigourney, Iowa; grandchildren, Robert “Rob” (special friend Stacy) Collison, children, Owen and Reese, of Onawa, Iowa; Randy (Felicia) Collison, children, Cade and Colby, of Bondurant, Iowa; Ryan (Erinn) Collison, children, Jacob, Mason, and Adalynn, of Toledo, Iowa; Stacey (Jared) Nikkel, children, William, Natalie, Djackendy, and Charles, of  Sigourney, Iowa; Nathan (April) Phillips, children, Jackson, Max, Amelia, Nash, and Ruby, of What Cheer, Iowa; sister, Shirley Stadler of Blair, Nebraska; and many other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Collison; parents, Philip and Opal (Kincheloe) Benson; infant daughter, Cheryl Lorraine; brother, Gene Benson; and sister, Marilyn Southern.
