Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Oto, Iowa. A visitation will be 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. with a scriptural wake service at 7:00 P.M. Monday, February 16, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa, with a rosary following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Linda was born December 27, 1950, in Oto, Iowa, to Joseph E. Ronfeldt and Margaret F. (Gotto) Ronfeldt. She attended Lawton-Bronson High School and graduated in 1969. Following high school, she worked at banks in Sioux City before meeting Leonard McDonald at a local dance. The two were united in marriage on February 19, 1972, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oto, Iowa.

Together, Linda and Leonard built a beautiful farm life outside of Oto, where they raised their daughters, Brenda and Carrie. As a devoted farm wife and stay-at-home mother, Linda created a warm and welcoming home. Their doors were always open to anyone who needed a place to stay, a hot meal, or simply a visit. Leonard passed away on February 20, 2007, just one day after their 35th wedding anniversary.

After her daughters were in elementary school, Linda entered the workforce, working at Alfs in Sioux City, as well as the Oto and Rodney Grain Elevators. She later dedicated more than 25 years of service to Prince Hydraulics before retiring.

In 2009, Linda moved to Sloan, Iowa, where she treasured the opportunity to attend her grandchildren’s many activities. She especially loved feeding them between events and before and after school – making sure no one ever left her home hungry.

One of the greatest blessings later in Linda’s life was the time she shared with Bill Adkins. They were married on May 11, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa. Together they enjoyed traveling the United States in their camper, taking nine bus trips, and sharing a cherished trip to Germany.

In her free time, Linda could often be found baking delicious treats, preparing large family meals, tending to her garden and plants, crocheting, sewing, or embroidering dish towels for family members. Most of all, she treasured time spent with daughters, grandchildren, and extended family – whether over a simple cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or during a large family celebration.

Linda was member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a current member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Salix, Iowa.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bill Adkins of Sloan: two daughters, Brenda (Stan) Hinrickson of Smithland, and Carrie Tillman of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Dillion (Bethany) Hinrickson of Waverly, Courtney Tillman of Des Moines, Ty (Kaylee) Hinrickson of Sloan, Lars Eberly of Des Moines, and Peggy Hinrickson of Smithland; great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Hudson Hinrickson of Waverly, with a third great-grandchild expected in April of 2026;  stepchildren, Sherry (Todd) Thoms of Lake Park, and Randy Struble of Spirit Lake; sister, Judy (Dennis) Herbst of Bronson; brother, Don (Leah) Ronfeldt of Sioux City; along with treasured aunts and uncles, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard McDonald; her parents, Joseph and Margaret (Gotto) Ronfeldt; her parents-in-law, Thomas and Elsie (Pithan) McDonald; special aunts and uncles; and six sisters-in-law, Marjorie Mitchell, Dorothy Williams, Beverly McDonald, Laura Thurston, Barbara Greenhalgh, and Patricia Schwartz.

Linda will be remembered for her strong faith, unwavering work ethic, generous heart, and deep love for her family. Her legacy of hospitality, kindness, and devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
