Linda (Blaine) Ottis Obituary

Linda Hope (Blaine) Ottis, 70 years old, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 peacefully at her home in Grand Marais, Minnesota.

A private memorial graveside service will be held at Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Linda was born October 4, 1953 in Moorhead, Iowa at the Blaine family residence in the beautiful Loess Hills of Iowa, the daughter of James and Rosemary (Moorhead) Blaine.

She was united in marriage to John Ottis on May 20, 1989 and they enjoyed thirty-five years of happy wedded bliss.

Linda attended elementary and high school at East Monona in Moorhead, Iowa.

She furthered her education and graduated from Iowa State University with a BS in fisheries wildlife and biology.

Her hobbies were fishing, kayaking, gardening, playing cards with the ladies, beachcombing, fiber arts, community service, and volunteering at the Johnson Heritage Post, Minnesota.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Moorhead Christian Church, Moorhead, Iowa where she served as Past Deaconess.

Survived by her husband John Ottis of Grand Marais, Minnesota; sister, Marcia Blaine and her companion Debra Grove of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, Park (Kathleen) Blaine of Elkhorn, Nebraska; sister, Barbara (Randy) Wacheldorf of Moorhead, Iowa; niece, Rosemary (Wacheldorf) Nelson, and her children, Penelope and Roman Nelson of Omaha, Nebraska; and many cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Rosemary Blaine; and nephew, Stuart Wacheldorf.

Memorials in Linda’s memory may be directed to the Moorhead Christian Church 408 Oak Street, Moorhead, Iowa 51558.
