LaDonna Sue DuMond

LaDonna Sue DuMond, 68, of Onawa, Iowa, formerly of Soldier, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Darren C.E. Goslar, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with LaDonna’s obituary. Burial will be in the Soldier Lutheran Cemetery, Soldier, Iowa. A luncheon will be held at the Soldier Lutheran Church following the burial. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel with a 7:00 P.M. LaDonna Sue was born February 14, 1954 in Pisgah, Iowa the daughter of Donald Claire and Marjorie Mary (Sorensen) Lund. She grew up on a farm near Soldier, Iowa. She graduated from East Monona with the class of 1972.

LaDonna and Randall “Randy” LeRoy DuMond were united in marriage on July 16, 1971 at the Soldier Lutheran Church. Two children were born to this union, Amy and Lisa. Randy passed away on May 24, 2000 in Soldier, Iowa.

After high school, she started working at the Opal Bennett Nursing Home in Turin, Iowa and this sparked her interest in being a caregiver. She went on to receive her CNA certification. LaDonna also worked at Elmwood Care Centre and Burgess Health Center both in Onawa for many years.

LaDonna was a caregiver her entire life and always cared for those around her in her work career and also her family life. She enjoyed being with her family and could always be found entertaining all children. LaDonna also loved baking and cooking. She loved to collect Fenton glass baskets and most recently, windmills.

She was a member of the Soldier Lutheran Church and was active with their ladies group called WELCA. She was also very active in the Soldier Community Club.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Amy (Terry) Manuel of Ada, Oklahoma, and Lisa (Jason Clark) DuMond of Le Mars, Iowa; grandchildren, Jesse Hupp, Shelby Mauch, and Riley Mauch; sister, Joleen (John) Larson of Soldier, Iowa; brother-in-law, Barry (Linelle) DuMond of Onawa, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Ryan (Sam) Larson, Dawn Conyers, John (Stacey) Thomas, Michelle (Bernie Goslar) Thomas, and Bryan Thomas; many great nieces and nephews and several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Donald and Marjorie (Sorensen) Lund; husband, Randall “Randy” DuMond; parents-in-law, Cloyce and Joyce (Daugherty) DuMond; sister, Diana Thomas; brothers, Claire Lund and Jerry Lund; son-in-law, Ryan Mauch; niece, Stephanie Jo Larson; and special friend, Debbie Ingram.
