Kitty Joan Redwing

Kitty Joan Redwing, 83, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Monday, January 10, 2022 at her daughter’s residence in Sioux City, Iowa.

 Per her wishes, cremation has been accorded and no services are being planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Kitty Joan was born January 17, 1938 in Castana, Iowa the daughter of Laurence Elgin and Edith Ellen (Archer) McDonald. She grew up on Beaver Creek as an only child where she got to enjoy and spend time with her Grandma McDonald. Kitty attended school and graduated in 1956 from Castana High School, Castana, Iowa.

Kitty Joan McDonald and Floyd Emery Redwing were united into marriage on June 30, 2001 at the McDonald Farm near Castana, Iowa.

She enjoyed playing the piano and with that gift, Kitty and Floyd enjoyed singing Dakota Hymns and providing music at many Native American wakes and funerals all over the United States. Kitty loved all types of music especially, Hispanic and Country, and anything that made her feet tap. She loved to dance. She also enjoyed crocheting, going to yard sales, and shopping at thrift stores.

Survivors include her children, Kenny McDonald of Soldier, Iowa, McDonald (Nina Franco) Towner of Castana, Iowa, William Fouts of Sioux City, Iowa, Joe Towner of Westerly, Rhode Island, Brad Towner of Sioux City, Iowa, Meri (Beau) Walden of Sioux City, Iowa, and TaNeale (Maria Mercado) Towner of Onawa, Iowa; thirty-one grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Redwing; her parents, Laurence and Edith McDonald; and daughter, Lisa.
