Karolyn R. Brockman

Karolyn R. Brockman, 79, of Whiting, Iowa, formerly of Castana, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.

A funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor David Schoop, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Karolyn’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Little Sioux Township Cemetery, Smithland, Iowa. A visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday, June 24, 2022 at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Karolyn Ruthann was born January 3, 1943 in Pender, Nebraska the daughter of Theodore and Laura (Legg) Nemnich. She graduated from Smithland High School in 1961.

Karolyn Nemnich and John Brockman were united into marriage May 14, 1961 in South Sioux City. John passed away June 15, 1995 in Onawa, Iowa.

Karolyn enjoyed making quilts, sewing, and gardening. Everyone knew she was a seamstress and sewed lots of clothing items for people. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them.

Karolyn was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Climbing Hill, Iowa.

Survivors include her children, Lori Hagan of Rapid City, South Dakota, Lisa (Bob) Cummins of Onawa, Iowa, and John Brockman, Jr. of Sioux City, Iowa; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Laura (Legg) Nemnich; husband, John Brockman; and son-in-law, Jamie Hagan.
