Judith "Judi" (Westergaard) Pratt

Judith “Judi” Ellen (Westergaard) Pratt of Whiting, Iowa passed away on June 25, 2026.

A memorial and celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 24, 2026 at First Congregational Church, U.C.C. Whiting, Iowa, with Jeff Thelander, officiating. Luncheon will follow the service at the church. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Judi’s obituary. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Judi was born May 18, 1951, in Sioux City, Iowa. Her parents were Harold and Ardyce (Jackson) Westergaard, Whiting, Iowa farmers. She died at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting after fighting Alzheimer’s Disease for several years.

Judi was raised on the family farm outside of Whiting and from an early age enjoyed helping with farm chores, spending quality time with her parents and grandparents, and enjoying fun farm childhood play and activities with her sister, Karen. She attended Whiting Community School where she participated in almost all extracurricular activities and excelled academically, graduating in 1969. After graduation, she attended ISU for 2 years. She then transferred to the U of I to pursue a nursing degree. She was a Dean’s List student and graduated in 1974 with a BSN degree.

She returned to Whiting and married Charlie Pike of Whiting in August, of 1974. They resided on the Pike farm where Judi helped with farm work while also attending Morningside College to broaden her education and working at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa. She and Charlie had two children, Brenton was born in 1976 and Alison was born in 1979. She was a devoted and loving mom and was involved in countless activities with her children. She was also very active in the community and in her church. She often said her greatest treasures and pleasures were her family, her friends, and her faith.

After she and Charlie divorced, Judi worked at several different jobs and then returned to college at the University of Nebraska Omaha, where she attained her master’s degree in social work. She then began her career in medical social work at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. She married Steven Pratt of Medford Oregon, formerly of Whiting, in 2001 in Medford, Oregon. Judi and Steve lived in Oregon where they greatly enjoyed their time together and the many outdoor and cultural activities of the area until 2007 when Steve retired from his law practice and they returned to Whiting. By that time, they had 4 grandchildren in the Whiting area which was one of the 2 magnets that drew them back to Whiting; the other was their desire to return to their Whiting farming roots. During their years in retirement, they were never apart and always enjoyed their life together. Judi was a generous, gracious, giving, and loving person who cared about people and causes, not material things.

Judi and Steve travelled extensively including trips to Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, Jamaica, Florida, Washington DC, New England and other fun and interesting places. They greatly enjoyed quality time with their family both in Iowa and in the Pacific Northwest. They tried to never miss a grandchild’s game or school program. They had countless great times with their families and with friends at their home on East Lake Okoboji. They were active members of the Whiting First Congregational United Church of Christ and actively supported many community and school activities.

Judi is survived by and will be missed greatly by her family, including her husband, Steve; her son, Brent Pike of Whiting, Iowa; her daughter, Alison (Jason) Wiggs of Onawa, Iowa; her stepdaughters, Molly (Mar) Chavez of Portland, Oregon and Andrea (Chase) Hill of Seattle, Washington; her sister, Karen (Rusty) Corderman of Newell Iowa; her eight grandchildren, Brenna (J T) Gengler, Briley (Carter) Copple, Bristol Pike, Brielle Pike, Brady Wiggs, Collin Wiggs, Keagan Wiggs, and Henry Hill; three nephews; several cousins; and her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ardyce (Jackson) Westergaard.

If you wish to make a contribution to honor her memory, her request was that contributions be made to Friends of Pleasant View Auxiliary, Burgess Health Center Foundation, or Whiting First Congregational United Church of Christ in lieu of flowers. As a graduate of the U of I nursing program and a supporter of science and medical research, she deeded her body to the medical school for research and teaching purposes.
