Joanne Fleck Obituary

Joanne O. Fleck, 67, of Rodney, Iowa passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa.

Per Joanne’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Private Family Services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Joanne Ouida was born March 10, 1954 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Donald Pearson, Sr. and Lottie (Courtney) Pearson. Joanne graduated from Onawa High School in 1974.

Joanne and Johnnie Joe Fleck were united into marriage August 23, 1975 in Onawa, Iowa. They had two daughters, Angella and Alisha.

Joanne worked for Gary Taylor as a Secretary/Bookkeeper for many years and later retired from there. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, traveling, fishing, horses, and crafts. Joanne wrote several Western short stories for magazines and a children’s book that was published. She made lots of baby quilts and quilts for her children and grandchildren. Joanne was a member of the gun club and enjoyed practice shooting.

Joanne was a very enthusiastic grandma and great-grandma. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Joanne was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Fleck of Rodney, Iowa; children, Angella (Jeff Peterson) DeVries, and Alisha Fleck; grandchildren, Shauna (Tony) Berry, Tanner (Mikayla Lansink) DeVries, and Josef Walker; great-grandchildren, Tucker Berry, and baby girl Berry due in August; mother, Lottie Pierce; sister, Charlotte Bell; brother, Keith (Elizabeth) Pearson; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Fleck; two sisters-in-law, Linda Bellon, and Belva (Ron) Mustard; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Pearson; step-father, Ed Pierce; grandparents, Watson and Arlone Willey; brother-in-law, John Bellon; and parents-in-law, Odessa and Raymond Fleck.
