JoAnn Lintin Obituary

JoAnn Lintin, 77, of Onawa, Iowa passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at her residence.

A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Clif Cockburn, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with JoAnn’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Belvidere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

JoAnn was born November 26, 1947 in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Frances (Grandgenett) Thompson. She attended Onawa Community Schools.

JoAnn and John Lintin were united into marriage November 5, 1964 at the First Christian Church in Onawa. To this union two children were born, Tammy and Rhonda.

While John was in the Air Force they lived in Minot, North Dakota. The couple then came back to Monona County and settled in Onawa. JoAnn and John had a big garden and did lots of canning for the family. They were never without their beloved pugs, who followed them wherever they went, a constant and joyful presence in their lives.

JoAnn graduated from Tyler’s Beauty School in Sioux City, Iowa. She owned and operated her own salon in her home called “JoAnn’s Beauty Salon. She worked there for many years until she retired in 2018.

JoAnn enjoyed taking family vacations and trips every year with her family. She loved Christmas time and made it very special for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, cooking and watching her favorite T.V. shows, court cases and westerns.

JoAnn was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered many hours at the Kiwanis Museum Complex in Onawa.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammy (Charles Hughes) Lintin of Panora, Iowa and Rhonda (Troy) Johnston of Turin, Iowa; five grandchildren, Kisa (Jeremy) Deen, Brooke (Emir) Mutapcic, Hillary (Donovan) Olson, Annissa (Courtni) Johnston, and Tyler Johnston; six great-grandchildren, Kyler and Tinley Deen, Lili and Aden Mutapcic, and Thea and Conrad Wigen; two brothers, Terry Thompson of Clive, Iowa and Bill (Carol) Thompson of Johnston, Iowa; two sisters, Virginia Mathison of Turin, Iowa and Marsha Neldeberg of Fort Collins, Colorado; brother-in-law, Randy Thompson of Onawa, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lintin; sisters, Sherry Thompson, Doris (Darrell) Keifer, Jean (Jimmy) Jump, and Elaine (Wayne) Carlson; sister-in-law, Maureen Thompson; and brother-in-law, Chris Mathison.
