Jeanne N. Polly, 97, of Whiting, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.
A private family memorial graveside service will be held at a later date in the Harrison Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa, with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. Jeanne and her husband, Dale will be buried together. Military Honors will be rendered for Dale’s service and will be provided by the United States Air Force and Emery Johnson American Legion Post #481, Whiting, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Jeanne Nadine was born July 12, 1927, in Onawa, Iowa, the 2nd child of John and Vera “Pearl” (Hittle) Tyson. She graduated from Onawa High School with the class of 1945.
Jeanne Tyson and Russell “Dale” Polly were united in marriage on September 1, 1945, at the United Methodist Church Parsonage in Onawa, Iowa.
She was an Avon dealer for many, many years. Her greatest passion was creating a beautiful, welcoming home for her family. Jeanne loved to cook, especially baking, she was always testing and improving recipes. Over the course of her lifetime, she baked thousands of Swedish tea-rings, a favorite of the whole family.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for eighty years. Jeanne was also a member of the Whiting Christian Church.
Jeanne is survived by four sons, Jim (Meg) Polly, Denny (Joni) Polly, Doug Polly and Ed Polly; grandchildren, Mike, Melanie (Robbie), Melissa (Louie), Chad (Tina), Heather (Blain), and Jesse; great-grandchildren, Macey (Meagen), Tori (Ryan), Taylor (Niya), Nathan (McKenzie), Abbey (Michael), Hannah, Logan, Graydon, Brittany, Hayley, Autumn, and Skye; five great-great grandchildren, Addison, Aiden, Ava, Spencer, and Oliver; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dale after sixty-eight years together; granddaughter, Teresa; parents, John and Pearl (Hittle) Tyson; sisters, Marian Buchburger, Margaret Ann (Dale) Kreger; and brother, James (Nancy) Tyson.
