She was born in Mondamin, Iowa to Ora “Dale” and Gladys (Rodman) Clinkenbeard on January 29, 1939. She met her husband, Harry A. Edward Mikkleson, at the local roller-skating rink and were married on January 18, 1958. Together, they had 5 children: Debbie, Harry, Lucinda “Cindy” (Drees), Ray, and Darrell.
Janet cherished spending time with her family, volunteering, traveling, and visiting with any and every dog that came across her path. She would never say no to vacationing with her husband, Harry. And where she went, so did her dogs. Janet, an avid volunteer, was both a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den mother when her kids were little. After those duties concluded, she began volunteering at the local hospital, where she did anything and everything she could to help. After all that, Janet still found time to join a bowling league and play both the piano and the organ.
Beyond family, Harry and Janet’s pride and joy was their ownership and operation of Jan’s Strang Tavern in the quaint little town of Strang, Nebraska. Their establishment was more than just a place to gather; it was a hub of community spirit, laughter, and camaraderie.
She is survived by her children, Cindy (Drees) and Darrell Mikkleson, both of Elkhorn, Nebraska; her grandchildren, James Mikkleson (Jamie) of Lincoln, Nebraska, Ryan Drees (Amanda) of Lincoln, Nebraska, Adam Drees (Melissa) of Omaha, Nebraska, Raymond Mikkleson (Ragen) of Omaha, Nebraska, Eric Drees of Eagle, Nebraska, Sean Mikkleson (Alyscia) of Milford, Nebraska; and Andrew Drees (Ashley) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Mikkleson; children, Debbie (daughter), Harry (son), and Ray (son); her parents, Dale and Gladys (Rodman) Clinkenbeard; and her brothers, Kenneth Clinkenbeard and Ronald Clinkenbeard.
May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love that she so generously gave throughout her remarkable journey.
