James Allen Richardson, Jr.

James Allen Richardson, Jr., age 77, of Whiting, Iowa, passed away on May 10, 2026, in Omaha, after battling a severe illness. Though his health had declined over time, his passing came suddenly, with his loving wife and children by his side.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1006 Lucas Street, Onawa, Iowa 51040. You can view the service over zoom – ID - 996 2172 2558, Password – 043483. A private family burial will occur in the Harrison Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Jim was born on May 17, 1948, in St. Peter, Minnesota to James A. Richardson, Sr. and Helen (Ahlstrom) Richardson.

Jim had a deep love for the outdoors and country living. He enjoyed wide open spaces, tending large gardens, and gathering people together with his warm hospitality. He loved golf, large outdoor fires, and was well known for his ability to build, repair, and tinker with just about anything. An entrepreneur at heart, Jim went into business with two of his sons and took pride in working alongside his family.

Jim lived a life marked by resourcefulness and quiet strength. He faithfully cared for his first wife, Rhonda, throughout her long and difficult illness while raising their five children together. In later years, he found love again with Dennise, and together they found great joy in serving others through their volunteer ministry as Jehovah’s Witnesses, sharing their faith and hope with many.

Jim also treasured his lifelong friendship with Dan Bennett, Sr., whom he loved like a brother.

Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Dennise Richardson of Whiting, Iowa; his children, William “Tracy” (Tonya) Richardson of Omaha, Nebraska, James “Mitch” Richardson of Omaha, Nebraska, Michael Richardson of Whiting, Iowa, Andrea Lynch of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and David Richardson of Phoenix, Arizona. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Courtney Wingate of Leggett, Texas; three grandchildren, Austin Lynch, Evan Lynch, and Makayla Lynch; and two sisters, Roberta Duzan of Le Sueur, Minnesota and Dorothy Cooper of Hamilton, Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; James A. Richardson, Sr. and Helen (Ahlstrom) Richardson; his brothers, Bill Richardson, Ed Richardson, and Scottie Richardson; his sister, Harriet Lunda; and his first wife and the mother of his children, Rhonda (Arthur) Richardson.
