James Leonard Joy

James Leonard Joy, 63, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa.

A Private Graveside Service will be held in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with Jack Gibler, officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

James Leonard Joy was born January 6, 1960, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Arline (Hoffman) Joy. He was raised in Onawa, Iowa, and graduated from West Monona High School.

Jim established Joy Computers which he ran for several years. Then he worked for Gateway Computers in Sioux City, Iowa and established his home in Whiting, Iowa. In 2011 he took over Jay and Assoc of Omaha, Nebraska, when his sister Janet passed away. Despite being a cancer survivor, he continued that business for five years.

Jim enjoyed drones and airplanes. He flew model airplanes.

He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include his mother, Arline Joy; cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Joy; sister, Janet Joy; grandparents, Ed and Ella (Ehlert) Hoffman, and Atlas and Elsie (Mott) Joy.
