Ila Mae McClure

Ila Mae McClure, 84, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at her son’s residence surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Henry Witte, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Ila’s obituary. A private family burial will occur at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Ila Mae was born May 18, 1938, in rural Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Claude Eugene and Fern Viola (Harrington) Dean. Ila grew up on a farm outside of Mapleton, Iowa. She graduated from Maple Valley High School with the class of 1956. After high school, Ila continued her education at a Commercial Extension School in Omaha, Nebraska.

Ila and Benjamin Franklin McClure were united in marriage on December 27, 1968, in South Sioux City, Nebraska.

She was employed at the Medicine Chest as a cashier, MCI for customer service, and she was a full-time mom. Ila had many hobbies from crocheting, coloring, crafts, sewing, reading, and watching movies. She enjoyed being with her children, family, dog named Scooter, and her cat named Lady Bug.

She was involved with the cub scouts and the campfire girls.

Survivors include her children, Lonnie (Brandi) Wilson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Claudyne (Bob) Howard of Sioux City, Iowa, Jamie Robbins of Lenexa, Kansas, Harvey (Sabrina) Wilson of Paola, Kansas, Gerri (Kurt) Lyons of Sioux City, Iowa, and Carey (Andrea) McClure of Onawa, Iowa; grandchildren, John (Amanda) Wilson of Treynor, Iowa, Joseph (Beth) Wilson of Neola, Iowa, Christina (Steve) Caruso of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Jacob (Stephanie) Wilson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Adam Howard of Sioux City, Iowa, Elizabeth (Justin) Donaghu of Sioux City, Iowa, Joshua Robbins of Lenexa, Kansas, Corbett Robbins of Lenexa, Kansas, Devin Wilson of Omaha, Nebraska, Taylor (Julian) Pettifer of Reading, England, Carolyn (Isaac) Bruns stationed at Mildenhall Royal Air Force Base near Bury St. Edmunds, England, Cathryn Lyons of Iowa City, Iowa, Zach (Savannah) Vaughn of Blencoe, Iowa, Cyrus (Yasmin) McClure stationed at FT. Campbell, Kentucky; 19 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister-in-law, Fran Dean of Saint Charles, Illinois; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin McClure; parents, Claude and Fern (Harrington) Dean; two brothers, Jim Dean, and Donald Dean; son-in-law, David Robbins; and great-grandson, Jayce Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Ila’s family for future designations.
