Gerald Robert “Bob” Wolverton, 94, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa passed away Friday, June 10, 2022 at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa.
Private Family Memorial Graveside services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Gerald Robert was born November 29, 1927 on a farm near Pilger, Nebraska, the son of Irving and Dorrit (Forbes) Wolverton. Bob graduated from Wayne, Nebraska with a four-year degree. He enjoyed playing football in college. Bob went on to Greeley, Colorado and graduated with a master’s degree. He started out teaching/coaching and went on to the superintendent of schools to Junior High Principal.
Bob Wolverton and Maxine Jeanette (Froehlich) were united in marriage on October 12, 1951 in Hadar, Nebraska. Maxine passed away July 21, 2020 in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.
Bob enjoyed golfing, fishing, and following sports. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed helping his farmer friends.
Bob attended church at the Community Church of Christ in Sloan, Iowa.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara L. (Mike) Malloy of Salix, Iowa; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; brother, Art Wolverton of Hotchkiss, Colorado; sister-in-law, Myrtha Wolverton of Crete, Nebraska; and several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Dorrit (Forbes) Wolverton; his loving wife, Maxine; son, Jim Wolverton; one brother, George Wolverton; four sisters; Lucy, Laura, Mary Ann, and Clara Josephine; and several other relatives.
