Gene Eldor Friedrichsen

Gene Eldor Friedrichsen, 83, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.

A funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. A Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. A livestream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Gene’s obituary. A graveside service will be 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the Morgan Cemetery, Schleswig, Iowa, with Military Honors provided by the United States Army and Denison American Legion Post #8, Denison, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Gene was born May 22, 1941, in Kiron, Iowa, the son of Bernhard “Ben” and Rosa “Rosie” (Boysen) Friedrichsen. He attended Denison Community School and graduated with the class of 1960. Gene served in the United States Army from November 4, 1963, and was honorably discharged November 3, 1965.

Gene was a meat cutter for forty-five years at Fiesta Foods, in Onawa, Iowa, until his retirement.

He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, and fishing. Gene was an avid coin collector.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernhard “Ben” and Rosa “Rosie” (Boysen) Friedrichsen; and three brothers, Burdel and wife, Dorothy Friedrichsen, Willard and wife, Ruby Friedrichsen, and Arlo Friedrichsen.
