Gary L. Kendall, 87, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Monday, June 16, 2025 at Accura HealthCare, Onawa, Iowa.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 19, 2025 at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa with Jack Gibler, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Gary’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Gary Lee was born December 10, 1937 on a farm in rural Blencoe, Iowa, the son of Bennie and Amanda (Martin) Kendall. He graduated from Blencoe High School with the class of 1956.
Gary and Bonnie Rutledge were united into marriage on February 3, 1957 at the First Christian Church in Onawa.
Gary was a salesman for NAPA Auto Parts for many years. He enjoyed fishing and coaching the two boys in sports while they were growing up. Gary also enjoyed watching his grandchildren participating in sports.
Gary was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa.
Survivors include his two sons, Scott (Jeannie) Kendall of Onawa, Iowa, and Mike (Amber) Kendall of Plattsburg, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Joseph (Amy) Kendall, Samantha (Jeremy) Parr, Michael (Ashley) Kendall, Matthew (Kelsey) Kendall, Micoulley (Heather) Kendall; Eyan (Taylor) Coldren, Hailey (Jordan Harris) Holiman and Kaitlyn Holiman; eleven great-grandchildren, Ariana, Riley, Ryan, Rayna, Andrew, Korbin, JaKoby, Kash, Remington, Sawyer, and Gavin; sister, Noreen (Randy) Kuhlmann of Mapleton, Iowa; brother, Bennie D. Kendall of Orange, California; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Kendall; parents, Bennie and Amanda (Martin) Kendall; parents-in-law, Orville and Susie (Gruber) Rutledge; two brothers, Everett Kendall and Robert Kendall; sister, Norma Lander; and three nephews, David Kendall, Brian Kuhlmann, and Brad Stender.
