Garland Anson, 75, of Onawa, Iowa, formerly of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away quietly in his sleep on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Elmwood Care Center in Onawa, Iowa.
Private family services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Garland was born on April 4, 1949 in Omaha, Nebraska, son of Andon and Elsie (Fleck) Anson. Garland graduated high school in Springfield, Nebraska. He attended two years of electronics training at Radio Engineering Institute in Omaha, Nebraska.
Garland married Carol Ann Albright on May 3, 1969. Together they had four children, Mark, Lisa, Jason and Nicholas.
Garland enjoyed working with electronics. He owned Anson Electronics in Onawa, Iowa for many years before moving to Omaha, Nebraska. Garland was the ‘unofficial mayor of Q Street’ in South Omaha and known for being a talented mechanic, a great storyteller and an avid pool player.
He is survived by his children; his son, Mark and his wife Gina of Blencoe, Iowa; his son, Jason and fiancé Randi of Sioux City, Iowa; his youngest son, Nicholas of Omaha, Nebraska; ten grandchildren; a sister, Darlene Middleton of Louisville, Nebraska; a brother, David and his spouse, Arnie of Ralston, Nebraska; a sister, Donna and her husband Andy of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister, Betty and her husband Michael of Valley, Nebraska; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Garland was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa, and his parents, Andon and Elsie (Fleck) Anson.
His gentle nature and quick wit will be fondly missed by many.
