Edward Ernest Lamoureux Obituary

Edward Ernest Lamoureux, 86, of Salix, Iowa, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023, at a hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.

A funeral mass will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 24, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Salix, Iowa, with Father Michael Erpelding, celebrant, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Edward’s obituary. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Salix, Iowa. A visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 23, 2023, with a scriptural wake service at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Edward Ernest Lamoureux was born in Sloan, Iowa, on July 8, 1936, to Milford and Leona (LaCroix) Lamoureux. He graduated from St. Joseph School, Salix, Iowa, in 1954. Edward married Dorothy E. Lussier at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Salix, Iowa, on June 27, 1956.

He started working for the Iowa State Highway Commission as an engineering aide in the construction department on August 1, 1956, and later transferred to the materials department on January 1, 1965. Edward was promoted to supervisor in the materials department of the Iowa Department of Transportation in 1979. Edward joined the Salix Volunteer Fire Department on August 5, 1960. He was assistant chief for many years and taught first aid classes for the American Red Cross. He was the Mayor of Salix, Iowa, from 1978-1981. Edward was a Member of Loyal Order of Moose, Eagles, and Knights of Columbus. He retired from the Iowa Department of Transportation on June 30, 1994.

Ed loved to go golfing and fishing. He enjoyed 28 winters in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where he had made many friends. Edward spent his summers watching the grandkids play sports.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years Dorothy Lamoureux, of Salix, Iowa; three daughters, Vicki and Jerry Ames of Austin, Minnesota, Sherri and Daniel Salmon of Sioux City, Iowa, and Jodi and Jim Clark of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren, Char-Lynn and Lee Ramsey, Stephany Kerr (Tony), Chad Kerr (Beth), Joey Salmon, Jennifer Myers, Cody and Catherine Clark, Lacey Clark, Mason and Izzy Lamoureux, Sarah and Jesse Elliot; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Larry “Mike” Lamoureux of Salix, Iowa; two sisters, Darlene “Bunny” McLarty of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and Marilee Thelan of North Sioux City, South Dakota; sisters-in-law, Gerrie Lamoureux of Whiting, Iowa, and Paula Lamoureux of Bullhead City, Arizona; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milford and Leona (LaCroix) Lamoureux; parent-in-laws, Joseph and Daisy (Cain) Lussier; son, Dennis Lamoureux; brothers, Lowell and Bonnie Lamoureux, Robert Lamoureux, and Raymond Lamoureux; sister, Marilyn Lamoureux; sisters-in-law, Donna Lamoureux, Sue Lamoureux, and Joanne and Wayne Preul; and brother-in-law, Sam McLarty.
