Donna Rae Savery

Donna Rae Savery, 82, of Soldier, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Maple Heights Nursing Home, Mapleton, Iowa.

A funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 2, 2022 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Donna’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Ute Town and Country, Ute, Iowa. A visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday, May 1, 2022 at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Donna Rae was born April 1, 1940 in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mary (Conyers) Anderson. Donna graduated from Whiting Community School in Whiting, Iowa in 1958.

On December 18, 1960, she married Ardell LaVerne Savery of Soldier at the Whiting Christian Church. To this union they had three sons, Randy, Kevin, and Rodney. The couple farmed for many years in the Moorhead and Soldier areas. Ardell passed away June 25, 2007 in Onawa, Iowa.

Donna worked for many years at Barns Café and Ruth’s Sweet Shop and Café in Ute, Iowa as a waitress. She enjoyed baking, talking on the phone, socializing with many people, knitting, and crocheting. Her passion was her grandchildren. Donna loved to cook meals for the “Guys” and always had a hot meal ready for them.

She was involved in the Ladies Aid and the American Legion Auxiliary. Donna enjoyed Bible Study at the church in Soldier.

She is survived by her three sons, Randy Savery of Soldier, Iowa, Kevin (Brenda) Savery of Ute, Iowa, and Rodney Savery of Soldier, Iowa; two grandchildren, Matthew (Tessa) Savery of Mapleton, Iowa, and Ashley (special friend Thane Hopkins) Savery of Mapleton, Iowa; one sister, Sharon Pratt of Sioux City, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Ardell Savery; parents, William and Mary (Conyers) Anderson; brother, William Jr. (JoAnn) Anderson; parents-in-law, Roy and Mable Savery; and a brother-in-law, Robert Pratt.
