Donna Jean Dietschy, 75, of Whiting, Iowa passed away Monday, June 6, 2022 at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska.
A funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the First Congregational Church, U.C.C., Whiting, Iowa with Pastor Jessie Lent, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Donna’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Whiting City Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa. A visitation will be noon – 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
Donna Jean was born October 17, 1946 in Omaha, Nebraska the daughter of Donald and Thelma (Plinske) Long. She grew up in Omaha and moved to Whiting, Iowa on the family farm when she was ten years old. Donna attended school in Whiting and graduated from Whiting High School in 1964. She went on to Norfolk Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska and graduated with an associate degree of Arts.
On February 7, 1970, Donna was united into marriage to Richard Thomas “Dick” Dietschy in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Sioux City until 1972 when they moved to Whiting.
Donna enjoyed traveling, gardening, swimming, and having a good time. She had her own cake decorating business and made lots of birthday cakes and wedding cakes. Donna loved spending time with her family especially, her children and grandchildren.
Donna was on the foundation board for Burgess Health Center for many years. She was a member of the “DAR” – Daughters of the American Revolution. Donna was also a member of the First Congregational Church, U.C.C., Whiting, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Darin Dietschy of Whiting, Iowa and David Dietschy of Sloan, Iowa; her dog companion, Boston Terrier, “Stewie”; grandchildren, Taylor Dietschy, Drew Dietschy, Blaine Dietschy, Braiden Dietschy, and Blair Dietschy; brother, Bruce (Joan) Long of Urbandale, Iowa; sister-in-law, Carol Long of Sloan, Iowa; nephew, Steven (Mindy) Long of Waukee, Iowa; nieces, Stefani (“Hot Rod”) Lindgren of Moville, Iowa, Jennifer Boes of Urbandale, Iowa, and Brittney Long of Des Moines, Iowa; and many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Thelma (Plinske) Long; husband, Dick Dietschy; brother, James D. Long; and nephew, Brett Long.
